Dates are Great

Mark competed in his 4th Date competition along with his trusty Sous Chef Martin, and this was his last. He said he's ready to try something different when it comes to competing. This was the first time the kids got to go and unfortunately Mark didn't win but overall he did win 2 out of the 4 years. So....I guess that makes him 50/50 when it comes to cooking with dates. This was the year he had the most people come out to support him. There were friends, co-workers and even members from the club. Having all those people was winning to him.

Easter

The only two pictures I have from Easter Sunday. Of course, as usual, my battery wasn't charged and died right after these two pictures. We started the morning off with a golf ball hunt at the club then walked around the Kraft for a bit. Then headed home to relax, get excited about an earthquake, then try to relax again. I actually made a full Easter dinner and dessert and decorated the dining table so that it was ready by the time Mark got home from work. Yay me!

Kraft Nabisco

The Kraft Nabisco Golf tournament is a huge LPGA tournament that is televised and held at Mark's club. It goes for a full week and it chaos. You have to have the correct wristbands to get into here or there and the crowds are by the thousands. Last year was Marks first year working it and my first year attending. I don't have a clue about the game of golf or know any woman golfers, but Mark get's passes so Drew, Jen, and I decided to go once again this year. We met up with several friends and ate, visited with each other, ate some more, visited Harpo the Clown, actually caught some of the golf game, then ate some more. It was quite impressive at the power the girls had hitting the ball. Although I was yelled at by some mean old man working the tournament for having my camera out, I was able to still sneak in a few shots. The final pic with the girl in purple was the one that won the whole tournament. I'm pretty sure there weren't shots that I could sell to a golf magazine.

Egg Dying

Egg Dying, an annual tradition with the Douheret's. The kids started out very carefully dropping their eggs in, getting what they felt was the perfect color and putting it in the holder to dry. Then by the end, one had to out do the other with the colors and I think they ended up with as much dye on their hands as they had on their eggs. They came up with some pretty creative eggs this year.

Easter Party

I believe this was the 5th Annual Hershberger Easter party/carne asada barbeque and I believe it was the best one yet. The kids are all old enough now to not only hunt for Easter eggs but play organized games and win prizes. Although some kids did not like the concept of "losing" they loved competing. They played the 3 legged race, potato sack race and the one where you hold an egg on a spoon and run it to your partner who has to run it back. The little ones were the best at this game because they just held the egg in one hand and ran with the spoon in the other. My little Mexican jumping beans won the potato sack race which was a huge surprise because Drew wanted nothing to do with it at first. After all the games came a very organized egg hunt. Courtney had a different color of egg for each kid to find so everyone got the same amount with the same things in them. After all the festivities came some kind of fight on TV that the dads and Tasha were very happy to watch. We are all already looking forward to next years party.

Baseball

Baseball has officially begun!! Drew is actually liking t-ball. Her first game she hit off the tee but we then bought her a pink bat and voila, she's hitting off the pitcher. Funny how that was all it took for her to swing. She plays outfield wherever the coach places her and usually watches the planes go by, the flowers grow and the ball roll right by her. She not that into actually trying to get the ball, she'd much rather bat and drink gaterade on the sidelines.
It's Peyton's second year and he's doing great. He's pitching again and playing shortstop. He's much more confident in all aspects this year and is actually swinging the bat rather than waiting for 4 balls to go by then having the coach come in to pitch. His pitching has improved although it stresses me out on the sidelines. Thank goodness Big League Dreams serves beer. I need something to calm my nerves.

Rodeo

A few weeks ago the rodeo came to Palm Springs. A rodeo along with a carnival. It was a HOT day but the kids were troopers and were excited to put their cowboy gear on and go. We had great seats despite being directly in the sun, and watched the bull riding, bronco bucking and steer wrestling. The kids sat patiently through it all knowing that after they'd get an icee and ride the rides. We even spent quite a few bucks trying to win a goldfish. After was Las Casuelas for a little dinner and some daddy/daughter dancing.

Palm Springs

Mark recently suprised me and ordered a bike I've been hoping to have. I was so excited. I couldn't wait to ride around the neighborhood with the kids. Well, I then had the brilliant idea of taking a day off of work and while the kids went to school we could ride all around Palm Springs for a day of tourist like fun. We parked the truck at Drew's school, unloaded the bikes and set out for a short ride into Palm Springs. We had breakfast, did some shopping, had lunch did some more riding around before heading back to Drew's school.
It was a fantastic day with great weather, good food, fun conversation and lots of laughs. Unfortunately for me the most laughs came as I was trying to stop the bike and completley crashed and fell off. Not at all gracefully either. A complete wipe out with my purse flying out of my basket one way and my glasses flying off my face the other. My elbow hurt at first till the next day I had a black and blue foot. Nothing broken but my ego sure is bruised.
